Reporting to the Senior Lead Operating Excellence, the Senior Specialist, Operating Excellence is responsible for developing and supporting key improvement initiatives. As a subject matter expert and practitioner in Continuous Improvement (CI), the individual will evaluate site opportunities, benchmark site performance, and be accountable for promoting, coaching, and leading a proportion of the sites Improvement initiatives pipeline. The successful candidate will work with the operating departments in the evaluation, implementation, and sustainment of initiatives with end users, leadership, and digital teams.

Responsibilities:

   Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor Teck’s commitment to health, safety, and environmental as a core value

   Lead the design of the structure and road map for the operational excellence model through the integration of principles, behaviours, systems, and tools

   Catalyze the creation of a culture whereby every person in the organization applies the tools of continuous improvement within the scope of their daily work

   Lead analysis/studies to identify improvement initiatives that impact the equipment utilization, physical availability and operating efficiency in the mine, the plant and support departments

   Lead the delivery of multiple projects at a time, managing scope, quality, and client relationships

   Establish training programs, comprehensive training strategies, materials, procedures, delivery methods, and competency assessments

   Perform maturity assessments within the site to highlight strengths and weaknesses of the existing Wiring and identify areas for improvement

   Continuously measure and monitor improvement processes by preparing progress reports for meetings and conducting post implementation reviews and project follow up

   Build capabilities of employees in the responsible area, through training and coaching with a focus on local management levels

Qualifications:

   Undergraduate degree in Finance, Mining, Engineering, Business, or Processing

   Professional Designation (P Eng., P Geo., CFA, CPA, MBA or equivalent) is an advantage

   Minimum seven years relevant experience in the resource sector, with two years’ experience in continuous improvement

   A proven record in implementing continuous improvement initiatives through valuation to sustainment

   Ability to think critically about business problem, build business cases, facilitate engagements, and communicate succinctly to various audience aimed at problem solving

   Comfortable interpreting and communicating the results of analytical models and statistical methods that support continuous improvement opportunities

   Excellent digital proficiency, particularly in advanced excel, Power BI, SQL, and Python

   Experience working in the role of a management consultant would be an advantage

Salary Range: $115,000 - $142,000

 

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.

 

Successful candidates must be willing to satisfy the pre-employment requirements of a pre-employment drug screen and three professional references.
